Strategies for Video Poker

There are many systems that you can find online to help you with different poker strategies that can help you plan out your moves but there are basically two strategies that can be applied to video poker and they basically depend on each person's individual style to decide which is best for you.

Since video poker's highest payout is always the Royal Flush (Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit), one strategy is to always go for that hand. This means breaking good hands with decent payouts like three Aces just to play your chances at getting the Royal Flush.

Of course this strategy has its downfalls as it is much harder to reach the Royal Flush because of the odds and you are bound to lose a lot of money before you hit big, if you ever happen to hit it big.

. The second strategy is the hand by hand strategy. This strategy basically decides in each hand what is to be done based on intuition, statistics and quick thinking. Statistically speaking, if you have 2 Aces but you have a King, a Queen and a Jack then you should trade in the other Ace to see if you can get the 10 because your odds are higher. Now if you had 2 Aces and an 8, a 9, and a 10, the odds of getting the other cards for a straight are much less likely and it is unwise to break the pair.
